Remember Touched By An Angel?
Yesterday, when I was scrolling through the TV guide I realized I had just missed a re-run of Touched By An Angel! I loved that show! And, I thought, “Hey! Sometime soon I will have to “Remember” that show on my blog!”
And then, today, Cathy, who has two great blogs on Today.com, Gods Child and Clean and Sober mentioned that Touched By An Angel was one of her favorites!
Well, I don’t believe in coincidences! So, of course I had to talk about Touched By An Angel today!
Touched By An Angel aired from 1994-2003. The series was cancelled during its first season, but because so many people wrote in letters to CBS they brought it back the next year and it quickly became one of the most popular series on television!
John Masius was the creator of the concept of the show, but his actual series was never produced. His script was was a very negative idea about God and human suffering. CBS wound up firing Masius quite quickly in the first season, because he refused to write positive, life-affirming messages. His replacement was a Christian writer and producer, Martha Williamson, who made Touched By An Angel a time for families to sit together, watch tv and discuss issues that may have never been discussed if it were not for the show.
The main cast, the Angels, were:
Roma Downey
Della Reese
John Dye-seasons 2-9
Valerie Bertinelli-seasons 8-9
So here are your questions!
-
Can you name the characters of the four Angels?
-
What were their jobs as angels?
-
Can you name any of the “special guest stars”? (there were almost 100 over the years)
-
What was your favorite episode?
Be sure to come back Saturday for the answers to all the questions of the week! Thanks for playing!

Talk about taking me back.
1.Um no
2. I think one was inspiration, one was peace
3. Brain went zzzzzzz…..
4. Ok now I’m flatlining…….
Roma Downey was Monica and she was Tess’ first trainee. Her and Tess were the main stars.
Delta Reese was Tess and she was in charge of training new angels how to do their jobs helping people
John Dye was Andrew and he represented the angel of death. He also helped out the others.
Valerie Bertinelli came later and was an angel in training. I can not remember her characters name right now.
Bill Cosby guest starred occasionally as an angel.
My favorite episode would have to be when the young guys father died and instead of leaving him the fortune he thought he would get he left him a challenge to meet. he ended up finding and raising a baby which was pretty much what his father had wanted. The idea was for the young guy to grow up. in a much later episode the baby’s mother came back to get him. He was now in school. during this episode Tess got Alzheimer and the end Tess was OK and the young man and the boys mother ended up getting together.
OK How was that?
I remember that episode! Both of them actually! You are very good at this Cathy! Thanks so much for playing along!
I enjoyed that show too. I didn’t watch it every episode, but I liked it.
Of course, no, I can’t answer 1-3. I will say that I always found it amusing that John Dye was the angel of death. Even though Dye is spelled differently than to die, it still amused me.
There was one episode with a family traveling by caravan that I liked a lot. I think they were gypsy’s or something.
I usually enjoyed the Christmas episodes the best.

I can not believe that I would forget such a simple thing as Thank you so much for linking my blogs. and mentioning me in your post. It actually made my day. On Thursdays at Gods Child we are going to be doing fun things and that would be a real good day to link this blog in so my readers can come play too.
1. Monica (Oops, I just saw that by accident when I was trying to scroll past the prevous answers.) Shoot, I’m drawing a blank on the rest.
2. Della Reese was the boss. Roma Downey was the novice. She worked directly with the people. John Dye was the angel of death. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Valerie Bertinelli in Touched by an Angel, though I loved her in One Day at a Time (that dates me, huh). Maybe she was the angel of rock ‘n roll?
3 and 4. Drawing a blank. Where are my memory pills?
