It occurred to me that maybe my age is showing in this blog! I remember the 70’s when most who happen across my blog are more into remembering the 80’s.
But that’s OK! I remember the 80’s even better! And the 90’s even better than that! Yesterday kinda draws a blank for me, but hey… I’m getting old! What do you expect!
So, my kids are always telling me, “Remember this show, or that show…”
This particular one came up just the other day. One of my kids’ favorites and mine too! I really enjoyed it and thought it was pretty funny and creative.
Do you remember it?
Here is the whole family and a neighbor who was really annoying:

So here are your questions:
-
What was the name of the show?
-
How many cast members/characters can you name?
-
What was this show’s theme surrounded on?
-
What year did this show come out and end?
-
Do you have a favorite episode?
I will enter all answers to questions at the end of the week on a special Answer Page.
Thanks for playing along with me!

I am going to start a series to quiz your mind and see how much you really remember when you were a kid.
This was one of my favorite shows however I was very young when it was on air and do not remember much about it.
The show aired from 1966-1971 on CBS.
The stars of the show: Brian Keith, Sebastian Cabot, Kathy Garver, Johnny Whitaker, and Anisa Jones.
Do you remember this show? Can you name each of the characters? Do you remember any specific episodes?
Here is an important question…. What was the name of the doll?
I had one of those dolls when I was little along with a doll of the little girl. Actually, I had a doll of the little girl and she was holding her doll which was much smaller.
Now don’t cheat! See if you can answer my questions!

Today is National Good Grief Day in honor of Charles M. Schultz’s Birthday. In honor of him and his beloved Peanuts Characters, it is National Good Grief Day.
I think that the Peanuts were my favorite characters growing up and still are now! I love Charlie Brown and all his gang. I always loved anything Snoopy and could totally identify with Linus because I, too, carried my blanket everywhere I went when I was young.
I always felt sorry for Charlie Brown. I think he was just misunderstood. He had a good heart, but no one liked him anyway.
Did you always wonder where the parents were? I did. These kids ran around and did all these things and their parents were never around!
And then, of course Lucy was just plain mean.
Happy Good Grief Day!

It is pretty amazing to think how quickly we have come in technology over the past few decades. Now a days, almost every child in America has their own game system (my kids have several), a DVD player and TV in their rooms, and most have their own cell phones!
When I was a kid, one of the coolest toys I had was a View Master. It was a simple toy where you would just put in a flat disc with slide pictures in it, then slide the arm down for the next picture. Usually, the pictures came with a caption or some kind of words that would tell about the picture. They had a variety of subjects that were either educational or fun to watch.
Later, they came out with a 3D View Master where the images were 3D. And then, they “improved” it with one that made sound.
This commercial features Henry Fonda and Jodie Foster in 1971. I don’t remember the commercial. Does anyone remember this one?

One particular toy that I truly enjoyed as a kid was The Wizzer!
The cool thing about this top is you just had to run the tip across the floor to get the tip spinning and then let it go and it would spin forever!
Another cool feature was that if you had more than one and you were really careful you could stack the tops while they were spinning.
There was one downside, and I am sure many can relate especially if they have older siblings. If your big brother spun the top really fast on the floor and then tried to balance it on YOUR head, the only result would be a lot of twisted hair within the top! (and some tears because it hurt like heck to get that thing out!)

Did you have a Wizzer?

In 1974, Erno Rubik of Budapest, Hungary was a lecturer at the Department of Interior Design at the Academy of Applied Arts and Crafts.
He had a passion for geometry and enjoyed the construction of 3D forms and the hidden possibilities made in these forms. He made this “Magic Cube” and showed it to his students and quickly found out that once someone had it in their hands, it was hard to get it back from them!
The need to solve the puzzle was great and without even trying, word quickly spread about Erno Rubik’s “Magic Cube”.
By 1980, Ideal Toys bought the cube and changed its name to “Rubik’s Cube”. The same year, the puzzle won the German Game of the Year. Since that time, they have sold over 300,000,000 cubes!
So, my question is…..
Did you ever solve the cube? My brother could. I tried. And, tried. In fact, today while visiting my sister in law, I tried again! I could never solve it. It is above my head!
Even this 6 year old boy could solve it!
Can you solve the Rubik’s Cube?

When I was a kid, I lived for Saturday Morning Cartoons. They were a part of most American kid’s lives. I loved staying in my pj’s till 10 or 11 and just sitting in front of the TV mesmerized by all the shows.
One cartoon in particular was made by Bill Cosby. Bill was a brilliant man and really knew how to attract younger viewer’s attention and teach life lessons without us ever knowing we were learning!
Bill Cosby’s show was Fat Albert. A couple of years ago they made a movie about Fat Albert and I actually thought they did a pretty good job at it. Now-a-days, it takes an incredible show to hold my attention long enough to be able to sit through the whole thing. This one I did!
Do you all remember Fat Albert?

Back in 1984 Wendy’s decided to come up with a catchy slogan to get customers to come to their fast food restaurant instead of their competitors, McDonalds and Burger King.
They found their slogan and delivered it through 81 yr old Clara Peller who, with her two elderly friends she asks the question, “Where’s The Beef?”
This became a huge hit throughout the year and before Wendy’s knew it, everyone was asking “Where’s the Beef?”.
The slogan became so popular that it was printed on everything from buttons and stickers to T-shrits and pot holders. You can find lots of that great vintage stuff on eBay now by clicking here.

This morning I asked my sister to help me remember one of the toys that we played with as kids. She and I were talking about all the different toys we had and then she reminded me of one that I had totally forgotten about!
We had these super cool records that you could put this mirror carrousel on and while the music played you could watch in the mirror and see the picture become animated as the record spun around.
These were from Red Raven Records and they had a bunch of colorful records with a picture in the middle.
This was our version of DVD I guess!
Did you have a Red Raven Record?
